Artist Trading Cards

I know that back in St. John's they were a huge thing in the making. Swap meets were always being organized and my friends were all involved. Though, I never took it seriously, thus never participating. Maybe I didn't know I had art in my life at that point.

At orientation yesterday, Don Mabie (one of the drawing and painting instructors) lead us foundation students in an Artist Trading Card activity. I made five of them in the course of a half hour from vintage postcards and stickers to be posted on a wall with the rest of the trading cards for the next two weeks. I hadn't realized how easy they were to make and how addicting it could be until I start churning them out like clockwork. Now I want to make them all the time, just to see how many I can create before I eventually lose interest (since those things do happen).

There's a swap meet at the end of the month here in town, they happen regularily on a monthly basis. I'm considering making a bunch and heading down at the following meet in September. It'd be an excellent way to meet people, especially for someone as socially inept as myself.

Who knows, maybe I'll start sending random art cards in the mail to random friends. Just to say hello.
