2003-03-05 - 10:34 pm I declared my major today and passed in my application. It was a quick process and now I have to wait until June to find out if I have been accepted. Brenda, the technician in the Fibre department, assured me (and Wednesday) that we'd have no trouble getting in. She knows how keen we are towards the program and given that both of our GPA's are pretty good, we have a great chance. It's really funny how exactly alike Wednesday and I are. We're interested in the exact same things when it comes to school - wanting to major and minor in the same areas. We get along so well and laugh until we cry. Just like Meg brings out the confident without-any-inhabitions part of my personality, Wednesday does the same. I'm so happy I've found someone like that here in this all too boring city. Currently I'm searching for articles to beef up a paper I'm writing for Art History. I'm trying not to get overwhelmed by the massive task this research deal is but sifting through all this shit is painful. If I can successfully gather enough articles online to support a number of my arguements then I can spend tomorrow in the library writing notes in preparation for writing the final thing. I wish I could just write this paper based on my opinion, forget about citing articles and art books. Research is like death to me, I hate it. Though, the more crappy research papers I write, the better I should get - right? Yea, I'm just kidding myself with that one. Heh. Nice things about today: 1. There was a choir singing at the Jubilee and you could hear them echoing in the library. It made me remember that trip to Halifax my high school choir took when I was in tenth grade to sing at the National Music Education Conference (or something). Looking back at it now, I can't believe I have been in the school/church choir every year except seventh and eighth grade. It seems like such a non-me thing to be involved in. Strange. 2. There was a guy at his locker just across from mine this afternoon and as I was getting my stuff together I realized we were doing the exact same things at the exact same time. Scarf around the neck, buttoning up the coat, zipping up the backpack, locking the locker. It made me feel like I was in a race so I quickened my pace. I think I won. 3. Spending over an hour chatting with several different friends near the cafeteria. It was great to socialize like that because now I feel like I actually know people and have friends at school. I'm really coming into my own now. It's a great feeling. 4. A free brownie from a guy I see all the time but have never talked to. He was walking around with this dish of them, offering them to any kid that walked by. It was really good and hit that spot that's been plagued by PMS for over a week. 5. The Be Good Tanyas and Neil Halstead I best get my ass back to work. Enough of this dilly-dalling.
