2003-03-14 - 8:16 pm I wish I lived in a town that had amazing shops filled with costumes and hats, flapper dresses and gowns from the early 20th century. My closet wouldn't be comprised of cotton blend blouses bought 75% off at the mall, nor would it have any hint of denim. If I could, I would play dress-up constantly. Just let me loose in the costume department at Theatre Calgary, please. Yesterday afternoon I tried unsuccessfully to shop for dresses. It seems all the cute things in the vintage shops aren't meant for a 5'8", 160 lbs girl. In the dressing room I could barely pull some of my selections on - they got stuck right at my shoulders or at my thighs. Nothing makes you feel gigantic like an unsuccessful day thrifting. All I want are five dresses, or at least two skirts that flare when I twirl and make me look like a chic domestic lady - is that too much to ask? I need a trip to Toronto, to Vancouver or even L.A. Just anywhere that has a better selection of 'alternative clothing shoppes' that can satisify my need to travel back in fashion time. Especially now that the weather is getting nicer all I want to do is wear pretty dresses and delicate shoes, foof my hair and get a new killer tattoo. Change is in the air and I need it desperately. Though, for the time being I will look at this cluttered and messy bedroom and contemplate tiding things up. I'll finish sewing the neck pillow I started earlier and possibly sew a new bag for my wool and needles.
